Adventures In Ghost Towns
You can find ghost towns in every country in the world and
every state in the United States. For many people visiting a
ghost town holds a fascination that is incomparable, perhaps
because these towns hold within their deserted buildings and
neglected gardens a sense of our past. Here are three of America's
most interesting Ghost towns that you might like to visit someday.
Bodie California
Once a booming mining town Bodie California is one of the
few ghosts town that has most of the original buildings still
standing and a look of a town caught in time. You can walk down
the same dusty streets that those gold miners once swaggered
through on their way to the local saloon or boarding house. You
can find yourself peering into the general store complete with
stocked shelves and old pickle barrels. You can peer into homes
filled with furniture and dust and get a real feeling for what
life must have been like for the people who eked out a living
amid the dust of this Californian town. You almost feel as though
one of those long ago inhabitants will materialize in front of
you and begin to cook dinner, or start the days wash.
This ghost town will give you a look back into history and
the everyday lives of the people who once hoped and dreamed in
this small little town.

You have to be careful where you park in some ghost towns...
Tombstone, Arizona
For those of you who want the experience of seeing ghostly
apparitions there is no better place to visit than Tombstone,
Arizona. The violent history of this town both in terms of gun
fights and fires is said to have left behind many ghostly spirits
seeking revenge or peace and sometimes both. Both locals and
visitors to this historic town swear they have seen a variety
of ghostly spirits in various locations and various times of
the day.
This ghost town is filled with the rich history of people
like the Earp brothers as well the sadness of life in the untamed
frontier. It is said to be a place where the people of the past
reach out to those of the present in sometimes frightening but,
always interesting ways.
Rosewood, Florida
Rosewood, Florida is a ghost town that is haunted by echoes
of the past. Theonly remaining building is the home owned by
the once affluent storekeeper John Wright. While there have been
no reported ghost sightings in this once happy little town, it
is shrouded in secrecy and sorrow. A town that during a few dark
days in the history of this country saw it's inhabitants shot
and lynched, it's building burned to the ground, saw incidents
of hatred and even heroism. To visit this town to feel the fear,
the anger and the sorrow of those who once lived here in the
very soil in which you tread. It is difficult to visit this ghost
town without feeling empathy and sorrow.
Each ghost town has it's own history and will provide you
with a different experience. Visiting one can be an unforgettable
adventure.
