Cash in the Attic
The Old Junk in Your Attic Could Make You Rich
By Robert Smith
Do you have cash in the attic? When I ask this question to
people I know, the usual response is "no". They think
useless old items are not worth anything and just throw them
away. But guess what? Your junk could be someone else's fortune.
It sounds pretty surprising, right? Let me explain.
A lot of us have plenty of collectibles, heirlooms, artwork,
manuscripts, and other old stuff which we think are useless.
But, much to a lot of people's surprise, it is not so in most
cases. More often than not, such old items could get you thousands
of dollars. In some rare cases, if you are really lucky, you
could even make millions by selling antique items. This is what
the concept of cash in the attic is all about.
Antiques and collectibles have always been in demand. It's
just that most people do not care about them, as they think antiques
and collectibles are meant only for the connoisseurs and the
super rich who can pay a lot of money. After all, you read a
lot of articles in newspapers about people buying antiques and
collectibles paying huge sums of money. In some cases, very rare
and very special items are sold for millions of dollars.
So, naturally, we tend to associate a certain kind of "rich"
image with antiques and precious artwork. As a result, we do
not think even for a nanosecond that the junk lying around in
our attic could be worth anything more than a few dollars.
Have you watched the famous British show Cash in the Attic?
I am a fan of that show and let me tell you that it really changed
my life. The show is all about helping people raise money for
their needs by selling some valuables in their house. If you
apply, the presenters of the show will visit your house and look
for valuables and antiques that could be worth something. If
they find something valuable, it will be auctioned and you get
to keep the money. It sounds good, right?
After watching a few episodes of this show, I thought to myself
why don't I try it? I immediately searched my house thoroughly
and found a bunch of old junk. I found some very old glassware
and some old clothes. Though I was not very optimistic about
them, I got them appraised anyway. Guess what? I was in for a
huge surprise. The old glassware was centuries old and the old
clothes I found were part of vintage collection. The appraiser
told me that together they were worth at least ten thousand dollars
I literally found some cash in the attic.
I tried a bunch of auctioneers, chose the best one, and auctioned
the glassware and the vintage clothing. The highest bid was $18,000
and I just could not believe my luck. At a time when the whole
world is credit crunched, I made nearly twenty thousand dollars
by selling some junk if this is not cash in the attic,
what is? So, don't waste your time anymore. Go search your home
today and find out if you have some cash in your attic.
